My mom brought me an awesome piece of blue and white pottery over the weekend...
I love the design.
I loved it even more when she told me she had purchased it in Williamsburg, VA years ago.
Oh, colonial design, you say? Um, yes, please!
I ooh-ed and ah-ed over it before asking...
..."What is it?"
If you already know, you are way ahead of me; I had no clue.
Drumroll... It's a pot for flower arranging: the holes are symmetrically placed to ensure a perfect arrangement. (Symmetry in the 1700's was crucial.)
I clipped some things from our yard to turn the pot into a centerpiece...
I used some roses...
...two types of veronica...
...and azalea stems for some greenery.
I love the history of the piece. I also am a fan of anything that makes a cute, quick, easy centerpiece.
Thanks, Madre!
