Dressing Up Mimaw

One of our favorite pieces of furniture is a sideboard from Grant's grandmother, Mimaw...

In fact, we affectionately call the piece Mimaw.

Mimaw has lived in the foyer of both Amber Bottle Houses.  It has so much storage, and it makes such a nice first impression.

In Little Rock, I never accessorized the shelves in any way, but I've started to in our new house:

The platter in the center is from Home Goods.  It's white porcelain and has a substantial chip on one end, but that chip made it around $3.  Plus, it adds character.

The glass cruet on the left came from The Knitting Mill years ago.  I like it, but I think it might be a smidge small.

The wash basin and pitcher is a recent find from Greenbriar Antiques ($10 for the set).  And I'm pretty sure I'm in love...

The set is just the right size.

I like the idea of keeping accessories to a minimum on Mimaw (because covering the carving with too many doo-dads would be sinful), but I think these fit the age and style of the piece well.

But, you know me, I'm always shufflin' things around :)

Happy Wednesday!

  1. Wow his grandmother took great care of the sideboard! What a lovely piece of furniture. You can never go wrong with white ceramic to dress up furniture.

  2. OH my that piece is breath taking. Looks like you appreciate that gorgeous piece of furniture, hope so as it's very special. I'd love to have a piece like that. Looks like his Grama took extremely good care of it. Enjoy it.

  3. Awesome piece. I love everything about it. Perfect for the ironstone.
