Starting the Office

My office in the Little Rock house was one of my favorite rooms...

The room was in the back corner of the house, so I had windows letting in lots of light on two walls, and I was smitten with the built-ins.

In the new house, there's a room on the front of the house with three huge southward-facing windows...

See there, on the second story to the left of the single window?  It gets so much light, and I felt like I had my own little perch to look out over the front yard when I first went in the room.

So I called dibs on this room as my office/ craftroom.  The problem was the color of the walls...

It looked a lot more orange-y in real life, trust me. Not calming.  And one of the things I loved about my old office was the pretty color. I know, I know, I should branch out from blue, and I sort of did: I used Benjamin Moore "Gray Sky" in the Little Rock house and Benjamin Moore "Wedding Veil" in the new house.  At least I didn't use the exact same color, right?  Plus, a blue worked best with the fabrics I didn't want to replace...

The curtains that were in the den in the Little Rock house are going in my office here.
I found all the fabrics at Joann's and made pillows to match my college dorm room breadspread.
"Wedding Veil" is such a nice, barely-there blue.  Fresh and clean-looking.

I used the daybed in my office again because it's nice to have a twin bed for guests sometimes.  It's also good for lounging while reading (which inevitably turns into sleeping).  The fact that it was my childhood bed adds to the charm for me.

The rest of the room isn't really put together... and by that I mean there's nothing in the room except the bed.  But I am looking forward to finding homes for some of my treasures...

Happy re-arranging things you already have!
